Dog House Information
Benefits of a Dog House
Dog houses give your dog the necessary shelter he needs from the
sun, cold, and moisture. The slanted or A-frame roofing and raised floors
assist in keeping your dog warm and dry all year round. It is ideal to place
the dog house in a shady area during the summer; during the cold winter
months, make sure that the door doesn't face cold drafts. Dog houses not only
provide your pooch with a place to lounge and relax but most importantly
shelter them from the weather.
Dog House Sizing
The dog house should allow your dog to enter standing up,
comfortably turn and lay down. measure your pet standing and measure your pets
body width and compare it to the doghouseyou are concidering. A dog house that
it too big will not retain sufficient heat during cold weather. Also, with a
small dog in a big house, he may decide to go to the bathroom inside in one
corner! Small dog houses are intended for small breeds, like Pomeranians or
Chihuahuas. Small and medium dog houses work great for beagles or similar size
to large small breeds. Labs and other mid-sized dogs will usually require
medium to large-sized dog houses. Larger dogs, like sheepdogs and german
shepherds will need large or extra large sizes. If you have an
exceptionally large dog such as a Great Dane or other dog of this size,
you will want to choose an extra-large dog house.
Plastic Material Dog Homes
For those with busy lives, plastic dog houses are extremely
low-maintenance. Plastic igloo dog houses are simple to build and take down.
There are also a snap to clean. Plastic dog houses will not splinter or peel
and will never require refinishing. Most of the plastic dog houses we sell use
remanurfactured (recycled) plastic so , they are great for the environment too!
Wood dog houses
Unlike many other materials, wood does not conduct heat. This is why
wood dog houses stay cool to the touch even in the heat of the summer sun.
Wood dog houses are available in a wide range of styles from cute and charming
to rugged and stylish. Most all our wood doghouses are finishedwith a
protective finish. if you wish to maintain the "new " look, you will need to
refinish them every 3-5 years. Your wood dog house Does Not Require
refinishing. Your wooden dog house will last a long time unfinish but, it will
show signs of weatherig. Some folks even prefer the weathered look of natural
wood.
What ever style you choose, a dog house will give you the peace of mind
and keep your "4 legged' family member comfortable, safe and healthy. Add
a washable dog bed for an even more comfortable home!
during the hottest and coldest days of the year
